Steinbergdalshytta is a traditional Norwegian “turisthytte” with a long history of being a place for hikers and other guests to seek warm refuge from the outdoor elements. 5 REASONS FOR VISITING US The Location Steinbergdalshytta lies between Geiterygghytta and Østerbø. Even though there are plenty of fit and experienced hikers along the path, we see that for many it’s 20 very LONG kms . If you plan for a night at Steinbergdalshytta, you plan for a pleasent walk with no rush. Add to it the extraordinary beauty of Western Norway and the Aurland valley, it is worth an extra day or two. Travel SLOW, experience more. (And if the weather is beautiful and your legs feel light, there are longer routes both from Geiterygghytta and here, and from here to Østerbø.) Food and drink At Steinbergdalshytta we make all our food from scratch. The produce we use is for the most part local, and we gather a lot from the nature surrounding Steinbergdalshytta. You will allways find a good variety of tasty vegetable dishes at the dinner buffé alongside for example goat’s meat, trout and local cheeses. For breakfast we offer homemade sourdough bread, crisp bread and oatmeal crackers, and the coffee is freshly ground and ecological. Our drink menu is varied and carefully put together. How about a taste of Steinbergdalshytta’s own beer brewed with kveik? The hut itself Steinbergdalshytta is, according to guests “a destination in its own right”. The old timber log structure dating back to 1895 litterally exudes old-fashioned coziness, and the interior invites you to relax, chat and enjoy. Celebrating good company Both the dining room and the above mentioned timber log hut are spacious and can accomodate many guests. Steinbergdalshytta has a long tradition for parties and celebrations, (if the walls could speak..). When we gather around the long table, every dinner is like a small party. So if you have an anniversary or other reason for getting friends or family together, Steinbergdalshytta could be the perfect place for the occation. History and stories Old history comes very near at Steinbergdalshytta. Ask the hostess about the old artifacts on the wall, the reindeer sleepingbag, about “Førarbui”, about the herders or the construction period...
