NOVA Spektrum has acquired all rights to TravelXpo, Norway’s largest travel expo, which attracts 7,300 visitors and nearly 200 exhibitors. As part of the acquisition, the event will be relocated to NOVA Spektrum in Lillestrøm, with the first edition to be held from January 10-12, 2025.
Compass Fairs has decided to sell TravelXpo and transfer all rights to NOVA Spektrum. This means that NOVA Spektrum will become the new organizer of Norway’s largest travel expo and will immediately begin planning for TravelXpo 2025. The travel industry has expressed support for this decision as part of its ambition to further strengthen the event.
A Larger and More Engaging Meeting Place
The acquisition of TravelXpo allows NOVA Spektrum to build on the solid foundation established by creating a well-known event in the market.
“The acquisition of TravelXpo gives us the opportunity to further develop Norway’s largest travel expo into an even larger and more engaging meeting place for all visitors. We strongly believe in the future potential of the travel industry and want to help companies in the sector succeed even more in sales, marketing, and relationship-building,” says Liv Kindem, Commercial Director at NOVA Spektrum.
Aiming for More Visitors
Liv Kindem believes that TravelXpo is a perfect addition to NOVA Spektrum’s portfolio of events. NOVA Spektrum owns several of Norway’s largest public events, with strong visitor numbers and new attendance records set in 2024. Until 2012, NOVA Spektrum was also the organizer of the travel expo. Now, new travel experiences will take place at the venue in Lillestrøm.
“Several of our major public expos, such as Camp Villmark and the Garden Fair, have seen impressive visitor numbers this spring. We believe this success is due to our ability to create unique experiences, combining the right exhibitor mix with creative content and engaging activities. Our goal is to make TravelXpo an even better and more attractive meeting place, drawing more visitors by enhancing the content and offering even more experiences,” says Kindem.
She points out that NOVA Spektrum has Norway’s leading expertise in trade shows and events. The venue in Lillestrøm also features a dedicated food and beverage department, enabling the creation of custom-tailored culinary concepts for each event. This will allow NOVA Spektrum to elevate the quality of TravelXpo in key areas that generate increased public interest.
Embracing the Full Spectrum of the Travel Industry
With many years of experience in the travel industry, including nearly 15 years in various leadership roles at Nordic Choice Hotels (now Strawberry), Liv Kindem brings a wealth of knowledge to the development of TravelXpo under NOVA Spektrum’s management. She has also served as Marketing Director for Birken AS, the organization behind the Birkebeinerrennet, and draws on her experiences from these roles to further enhance TravelXpo:
“We are committed to ensuring that TravelXpo caters to both broad and niche players in the Norwegian and international segments of the industry, making it the common meeting place for the entire travel industry. Our goal is to showcase all the unique experiences available in the market. Based on my own experience, I know how important it is to be present at an event that attracts many visitors to better understand the opportunities available in the areas of travel, leisure, and experiences,” concludes Kindem.
